Another Mystery Solved: 2025’s Fundraiser Featured Puzzles, Parks, & Pies

Author: Katie White, DFL SD49

Our Annual Mystery Car Rally this past Sunday was a rousing success! About a half dozen teams tore around town to solve riddles and discover who was the culprit of “Not Your Usual Bank Heist” - a fun mystery that our Fundraiser Director George Maxwell puts together each year.

The culprit this year was the Drain Family - a family who had been cheated out of investments by a well-known “businessman” named Mr. Rump. The mystery involved lies, deception, undersea cable cutting, and good old-fashioned revenge.

About 25 people signed up for the fundraiser including several new faces. The clues this year were themed around Eden Prairie Parks, taking us from Eden Valley to Pheasant Woods and beyond. The hardest clue for our team was finding the park that is:

  • near Eden Prairie’s original downtown

  • near the old train depot

  • named after a store front owner

Our team was full of Eden Prairie transplants, but I bet if you’re a local with a knowledge of history you know the park that this is referring to!

Overall this year was our most successful yet! A huge thank you to George for writing the mystery, putting the event together, and baking homemade rhubarb pie. And thank you to everyone who came out in support of the DFL and our Democracy. It was wonderful to meet new people, raise money to elect Democrats, and share a Sunday afternoon with friends and neighbors.

See you next year. For now, another mystery has been solved!
